In 2011, Paradise Rescued purchased a second vineyard block alongside the property and winery. The vines had been "cut to death" and essentially the vineyard had been abandoned. The 60 year old Merlot vines were recovered and provided the base of our first BlockTwo wine in 2012. The Sémillon vines could not be recovered and were dug up to make way for a full new planting of merlot in 2014.
Paradise Rescued BlockTwo 2016 is a classic Bordeaux 75% Merlot 25% Cabernet Franc Bordeaux blend comprising the fruit and body of Merlot in harmony with the fragrance and length of CabernetFranc. The first wine was produced in 2012 and the subsequently every vintage sine 2014.
2016 was an all round successful vintage for Bordeaux and Paradise Rescued, rounding off a nice hat-rick of vintages. The first half of the season was wet and cold but great flowering conditions followed by a warm dry summer with cool evening conditions setting up a great run into harvest.
