Due to the characteristics of the 2016 season, with a
dry summer and a mild autumn, an excellent grape with
very good maturation was produced.
VINEYARD
It contains nine hectares of goblet vineyards, up to 60 years old, located in the Sierra
de Tabuenca, on several parcels of land between 600 and 700 meters above sea
level, where the grapes are in excellent health and ripen well thanks to the climate,
good sunshine and the passage of the Cierzo, this omnipresent north wind.
WINERY
Palmeri Sicilia is situated in Tabuenca, 80 km west of Zaragoza. This is a family
winery, operated by David Cuartero accompanied by his brothers Eduardo and
Rafael. It is called Palmeri Sicilia, a reference to the winery where David worked as an
oenologist, "Tenuta Palmeri", located on the Italian island of Sicily.
Palmeri Navalta, named in honor of the Sierra de Tabuenca "Nava Alta" region, is a
structured wine that is properly matured so as not to disguise the true character of
the local Grenache variety.
ELABORATION
The harvest is carried out from mid-October, manually and by selection, in 15 kg boxes.
The grapes undergo a controlled pre-fermentative cold maceration, for a greater
extraction of aromas and color. This process, together with the alcoholic fermentation,
lasted approximately one month.
The alcoholic fermentation is carried out in large French oak vats, where the malolactic
fermentation is also done, and then it is matured in French and American oak barrels of
225 liters for another 12 months.
