Biography of Famiglia LOSI

The Losi family, winemakers for five generations produces high quality wine with modern technics but with tradition. On 22 hectares which used to belong to the Carthusian monastery of Pontignano, located in the southern part of the Chianti region, the Losi’s make possible autochthones grapes express itself at best as DOCG Chianti Classico and IGTs. Winery is run by cousins Pietro and Paolo thanks to their great knowledge and where also work Pietro’s son Ricardo, Pietro’s daughter Valeria as well as her husband Léonard. The history of the Losi family, winemakers since 1870, in the Chianti region is one of the most genuine and charming among prestigious vintners. In 1954, Tranquillo Losi bought some vineyards owned by the Chartusian monastery Pontignano. The same vineyards already cared by the Losi from several generations. In 1963 the Losi joined the Consorzio del Marchio Storico - Chianti Classico, producing wines of the Gallo Nero. Today the winery extends on 22 hectares surronding the hamlet Pontignanello and located in the southern part of the Chianti historical region, where the Losi’s make possible autochthones grapes express itself at best as DOCG Chianti Classico and IGTs. Winery is run by cousins Pietro and Paolo, who pass their knowledge to the new passionate generation. In 1998 Riccardo, Pietro’s son, just eighteen, begins to work in the company, demonstrating big capacity of challenge in the wine and olive oil world and defending the family traditions. In 2005 his sister Valeria, was inducted into the company to better manage the company public relations with the international markets: her passion is to share the quality and authenticity of her family production. Her strong passion was instilled also to her husband Léonard who now support the family on financial and commercial side.
